Just an FYI ,I decided to upgrade my blog, delete some old content and renew my promise to myself to be more serious about things that I love doing.
Another FYI for those of you who might wonder where my new blog title derives from , it refers to a pesky vulnerbilitity that dogs many web applications.Click this if you want to know more.
What do you when you get to see the rock icons whose music you have admired for almost a decade. You jump at the opportunity, buy your tickets and fight you way to the front row and experience first-hand awesomeness. I was at the Megadeth concert at the Verizon Theater in Houston and watched Megadeth riff and solo like few would have had the opportunity to. Being absolutely honest, Megadeth didn't make much headway into my playlist prior to the concert, just a few songs that I listened to in a loop. I am a Metallica fan till I die , but Megadeth are icons in their own right. The soloing is exquisite and the stage presence of Dave Mustaine is hard to ignore. I walked away from the arena, glad that I was done in by the 'symphony of destruction'. I will be there at the Iron Maiden+DreamTheater concert as well. I will wait impatiently for Metallica to play at Houston.
Many of my friends are appalled at the thrash metal genre. Understandably so , they perceive it as 'too loud' and ' not music'. So here I am, laying out some bare facts which will hopefully help you to betray fewer shocked expressions.
Thrash Metal is about hard -hitting guitar riffs which can untie the knots that you carry in your head. It is about guitar solos that can soothe as much as they inspire. It is about drumming that leverage and give vent to whatever it is that you feel. It is about lyrical content , which gives as many words to despair as it does to hope , as many words to weakness as it does to strength ,as many words to hate as it does to love. It is about bands that changed the world, about songs that gave identities , about guitars that spoke and drums that awakened. It is about soldiers that died and governments that failed, about systems that crashed and houses that burned , about hidden truths and published lies , about the darkest hours and the brightest days , about those that betrayed and those that stayed. About an eye for an eye , fighting fire with fire , holy wars and fear of the dark. About what really is important and that nothing else matters.
Everyone has their own choice of music. Fair enough.
But you know where I feel the difference lies?
You love your music , we live ours.
